"Thunderstorm" This is a musical interpretation of both a passing thunderstorm and it's effects upon a young woman having to walk (and run) through it to get to work.

This piece starts with the sound of thunder
waking our young lady from her nightly slumber.

Yawning and stretching she stumbles out of bed
and begins to ready herself for the work day ahead.

With an occasional glance or two, watching the rain through her window's view
she ponders her daily trek as the storm ferociously grew.

She finalizes her wardrobe and downs a cup of tea
and begins to spray her hair with an ever intense degree.

As she looks in the mirror with a reflection of approval
she notices the time and declares it's time for her removal.

She takes her leave by Elevator B
down to ground level that's past Floor 3.

With a shrug of the shoulders she darts out as if from a dare.
with newspaper in hand to cover her carefully coiffed hair.

Running to and fro, dodging people and puddles along the way
our young lady finds she is pelted by the fierce downpour's spray.

This race only ends in countless sploshes and splashes
as she concedes the storm's victory by dabbing her lashes.

With mascara running down her face and ever so soggy disposition
she decides to embrace her flight in dignified walking position.

As the wicked storm passes and the sun begins to break
she looks to the sky and contemplates another take.

She begins to have a smile, her feelings finally at bay
for after all, it's attitude she says, that really defines your day.
